The Joseph City Elementary School will be hosting a site council meeting on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 3:45pm, in the Elementary School Learning Center. This is an open meeting and all are welcome to attend and offer any input on what our school can do to improve or what is going well. Parents, students, community members, and staff are invited. The official purpose of the site council is to discuss curricular and instructional issues that promote the school vision and the overall success of our students. This meeting is an opportunity for stakeholders to provide input on school decisions and to contribute in making improvements in our schools.
Get ready for this year's Halloween Carnival! There will be a change of venue for this year's carnival- it will be held at the high school, rather than the elementary old gym. Please see the attached flyer for more details.

The high school football team is hosting a free football camp for 3rd-6th graders on October 24th. Please see the included flyer for details.

High School photography students have been learning about shutter speed, capturing fast motion and freezing it in action. A yearly favorite is the water balloon pop. High School captured water ghost faces.
Junior High photography students also worked on shutter speed and capturing action, but they had some brave students who volunteered to have the balloons popped above their heads, so not only did they freeze the water in midair, but they also captured some pretty fun facial expressions!!

We are bringing back Money in Motion and we are looking for some volunteers to help us with this event sponsored by Junior Achievement. You can sign up via the QR code on the flyer. If you have questions, you can contact Cat Hoth with JA (info on flyer) or Dan Bushman at danb@jcusd.org.

The flame lab is always a favorite!
Different elements emit different colored light when burned. This is why fireworks are so colorful.
Chemistry had fun finding out which elements produce what colors - everything is more fun when there is fire.

To understand chemical weathering, you need to see it in front of your eyes. Calcium Carbonate reacts and erodes with acid - we just sped up with process with 12 molar Hydrochloric acid which has a pH of 0. The caves that have formations of stalactites and stalagmites are calcium carbonate. The Mogollon Rim has a lot of calcium carbonate, also known as Limestone. Next time you are on the rim - see if you can find rocks that look like Swiss Cheese.

Earth and Space students learned that computers and science mix. They coded microbits to read water saturation of different types of soil. The way that a soil holds water is useful knowledge for farming and understanding the ways different soils erode.

Auscultation is a technique of listening to the human body.
Typically, medical professionals listen to peoples hearts and lungs; but it is possible to hear when bones are broken. While auscultation of broken bones can be painful due to sound waves traveling through bone, non-broken bones are non-painful and one can hear the sound waves travelling through the bone.
Physics meets healthcare.

This was our 4th year entering photos into the Navajo County Fair, students from both the Junior high and High school photography classes entered photos and were very happy to see how well they did in competing. Several students walked away with First and Second place ribbons, while some also earned Best of class for their photo. So proud of our Wildcats and the hard work they put in to learning how to use cameras and taking a leap into competition!!

Anatomy & Physiology have been studying the Integumentary System.
Today, they worked with different severities of burns and the calculations that doctors use to determine the amount of Lactated Ringers that a patient with different kinds of burns would need.
They learned the different methods of calculating percentage of of burns and calculating pounds to Kg.
Yep, science has math in it!

When you are done with an A&P test and there is a disarticulated skeleton on the floor, you start to put the skeleton together. Hope Mrs. Bushman doesn't trip while teaching Electron Configuration to Chemistry today.

It is important to know how your equipment works. So after failing in the lab due to not knowing how equipment worked, Chemistry students were able to do the Solubility Lab again and looking at the relationship between water temperature and the rate of solubility.
