Finger Prints are unique to every individual. Even Identical Twins have different finger prints. Fingerprints begin to form when in the womb between 17 and 19 weeks gestation. The arches, tentarches, whorls, and loops are influenced by the friction that occurs in the womb from tissues and amniotic fluid. If it is hard to see your fingerprint patterns, finger print a white balloon and slightly inflate it.

Did you know that there is Bismuth in Pepto Bismol? Today, the Chemistry class extracted Bismuth from Pepto Bismol. This is a 2 class process due the filtering. The experiment was determining which ratio of Hydrochloric Acid to water worked the best. This years Chemistry students are lab independent and was able to handle this lab all on their own. (The gray / silver in the evaporating dish is the Bismuth)

The ultimate goal in science is for students to explore and learn on their own; the A&P students had the opportunity today to dissect fetal pigs and cows today. They had previous experience of dissecting rats from Biology class, but they were guided each step of the way. These A&P students were given their specimen and then told to go ahead and dissect on their own and explore what they want to explore - some decided to have partners and some decided to be on their own. These ladies did this with a great level of maturity and pure desire to learn - couldn't be more proud.

Come out next week and support the middle school performing arts class and high school drama class in two fun family friendly productions!

Basketball Bonanza for grades Kindergarten -3rd grade.

While pictures are great - dissecting helps students understand their body by looking at another mammal.

When Earth and Space science is learning about space, they see all sorts of cool colors in the images that both Hubble and James Webb has sent back to Earth. This is the best time to learn about how the eye works. They had the opportunity to dissect cow eyeball balls to see different parts and discuss similarities and differences of cow eyes and human eyes.

Grades 4 and 5 basketball bonanza day Schedule. NOTICE the games are during school time. Grades K-3 will play Thursday evening 4/24 and Friday morning 4/25. There have been some great games. Go Wildcats!

Both A&P and Biology had a chance to test food that they eat to see if those foods have sugars, lipids, vitamin C, starch, and proteins. Some foods were a little shocking!

A few students were able to go to the Mesa Community College Planetarium and the Arizona Museum of Natural History.
A fun time had by all and the Planetarium certainly did not disappoint.

To understand space, you have to understand light and its behavior. Some predictions are common sense, others surprise you - and some are fun to see how many mirrors you can set up to have the light bounce, watching light dance on the ceiling when reflecting through water, and seeing if light can bend?

Last night, our junior high and high school choirs hosted a fundraiser dinner/concert. All groups performed well and it was a great experience for all who participated.
